Biography: Krista received her MS in genetic counseling from the University of Cincinnati in 2014 and is board certified. Krista has a deep knowledge and experience in neurogenetics, which began at the University of Texas in Houston, where she worked in the Department of Neurosurgery for over six years. Here, she worked with neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists and provided genetic counseling for patients with brain aneurysms, cerebral cavernous malformations, and brain tumors. She also started a genetic counseling clinic for adults with a variety of neurogenetic conditions, including hereditary forms of neuropathy, neuromuscular conditions, ataxia, epilepsy, ALS, and dementia.
In 2020, Krista joined Invitae Corporation to provide genetic counseling for patients who had received genetic testing through Invitae. First, she expanded Invitae’s current genetic counseling services to include genetic counseling for their neurology test menu for the first time. Next, she expanded services further to provide genetic counseling for multiple specialties, including neurology, cardiology, connective tissue disorders, ophthalmology, immunology, general genetics, whole exome sequencing, and proactive (healthy) genetics.
Krista continues her passion for genetic counseling at Grey Genetics. She believes in providing personalized care and providing an environment where any question can be asked, no matter how big or seemingly small. Krista’s priorities are to focus on the areas that are most important to her patients and help make genetic information approachable and understandable for everyone. She is licensed in all states that have licensure requirements, making her available to speak with patients and family members, no matter where they live.
