Biography: Shanna has spent much of her genetic counseling career guiding patients and families through the world of hereditary cancer. She enjoys using technology to connect with people across the country and around the world to help them better understand their cancer risks. Shanna grew up in Northern California and attended the University of California at Santa Cruz. She moved from California to Washington, D.C. to attend graduate school at Howard University. For more than two years she worked with the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center in Scottsdale, AZ where she provided genetic counseling, community and provider education, and coordinated with the HonorHealth Research institute to integrate genetics into various research studies. She has been traveling around the US with her husband since 2017, offering genetic counseling by phone and video. She holds genetic counseling licenses in California and Illinois and she is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
