Biography: Sonal earned her bachelor’s degree with a dual major in biology and public health from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her Masters in Genetic Counseling from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Sonal has 5 years experience working with children and families affected by neurogenetic disorders. She worked at the Kennedy Krieger Institute for four years in the general pediatric neurogenetics clinic where she was the lead genetic counselor in the Tuberous sclerosis and Fragile X clinics. Sonal joined the Epilepsy genetics program at Boston Children’s hospital in June of 2018 and now provides counseling to families seen in the Epilepsy Genetic Clinical Consultation Program as well as the Neonatal Epilepsy Clinics. In her current role, she is also the lead genetic counselor and study coordinator for Boston Children’s KCNQ2 natural history study. In this role, she is responsible for enrolling patients, creating study measures, and analyzing data. Sonal holds a genetic counselor license in Massachusetts.
